1. What LastBar is. LastBar is a map of mobile-network coverage, made from readings that the phones of volunteers take as they go. It also shows the estimated positions of towers, from OpenCelliD, and points of interest such as water, shelter and help, from OpenStreetMap, on a map of OpenStreetMap. It is operated by CLC Agency ("we").
2. What it shows may be wrong. A reading says what was, and not what will be: coverage changes with the weather, the time of day, the phone, and the network. The position of a tower is an estimate. A point of interest was mapped by a volunteer, and may be wrong, moved, closed or gone. Water is not known to be safe to drink unless the point says so, and we cannot vouch for it even then. Where nobody has been with LastBar, the map is empty, which does not mean there is no signal. Use your own judgement. LastBar is a help, not a guarantee.
3. Not for emergencies. LastBar is not an emergency service and does not replace one. In an emergency, call your local emergency number: 112 in most of Europe and much of the world, 911 in North America, 10111 or 112 in South Africa. An emergency call goes over any carrier that has signal, with or without LastBar. Do not go into a remote place relying on LastBar alone: carry water, tell someone where you are going, and take a map of your own.
4. Your part. You may use LastBar for yourself, on your own phones. You may not send it readings that were not taken by a phone where it says, take its data out by any way other than the app, interfere with the service, or break the law with it. We may block a phone that sends false readings or misuses the service.
5. Our data and our servers. The coverage map is made by the people who use LastBar, and we keep it for them. You may look at it in the app and on our website, and save areas in the app for your own use. You may not copy it in bulk, or collect it with a script, a bot, a crawler or any other automated means; register a phone that is not one, or pretend to be the app, to get at it; build a database, a map or a service of your own from it, or sell it or pass it on to others; or load our map, its satellite pictures or anything else that our servers hold into a website, an app or a service that is not ours. Apart from the data of others (part 11), the coverage map and the service are ours, and all rights in them are reserved. We may limit or block anyone who does any of this, without notice. If you would like to use the data, for research or for anything else, ask us first: info@clc.agency.
6. Your readings. If you choose to contribute, your readings become part of the coverage map, aggregated with those of others, as the privacy policy describes. You may stop at any time, and you may delete your readings from the app. The privacy policy, at lastbar.online/privacy, is part of these terms.
7. What you add. You may confirm or report points of interest, and with Pro add water and shelter where you stand. Add only what is really there, where you are, in good faith. Do not add anything false, offensive, hateful or illegal, anything that advertises, anything personal about anyone, or anything you have no right to share; a name is only one the place has, such as on a sign. We review a point before it is shown, and we may change, hide or remove anything you add, and block a phone that misuses this, without notice. By adding a point, a name, a description or a vote, you grant us a free, worldwide, perpetual and irrevocable licence to use, change and publish it, in the app and elsewhere, and to let others use it, also under an open licence such as the Open Database Licence (ODbL). To report something that should not be there, use "Report" on the point or write to info@clc.agency.
8. Pro and ads. The free app shows ads. Pro is bought through the App Store or Google Play, and their terms govern the payment, the renewal and any refund. Pro adds to what the app keeps and saves; it does not make the map more accurate.
9. No warranty. LastBar is provided as it is and as it is available, without warranty of any kind, as far as the law allows. We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, or available at any time, or that it suits a purpose of yours.
10. Our liability. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, injury or damage that comes from using LastBar or from relying on what it shows, including in an emergency. Where the law does not allow that, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us for Pro in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not let us limit, and nothing takes away a right you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
11. Data of others. The map and the points of interest are © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence, but for the points added by users of LastBar (part 7). Tower positions are © OpenCelliD, under CC BY-SA 4.0. Their licences govern that data.
12. Changes. We may change these terms. The app asks you to agree again when they change. If you do not agree, stop using LastBar.
13. Ending. You may stop at any time by deleting the app; the settings let you delete your readings first. We may end the service, or your use of it, at any time.
14. Law. These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. A dispute goes to the courts of South Africa, unless the law of your country gives you the right to your own courts.
